Helen PAPADAKI
Helen Papadaki is Professor of Haematology and Dean of the School of Medicine, University of Crete (UoC), Head of the Department of Haematology, the Haemopoietic Cell Therapy Unit, the Public Umbilical Cord Blood Bank at the University Hospital of Heraklion and Head of the Haemopoiesis Research Laboratory of the UoC.
She is an expert in haemopoiesis and her research focuses on the pathophysiology and clinical heterogeneity of chronic neutropenias and bone marrow failure syndromes. Her work has contributed to the identification of mechanisms and biomarkers relevant to patient stratification, prognosis, and development of precision diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in rare diseases such as chronic neutropenias.
She has extensive experience in coordinating international collaborative research. She was leading the COST CA18233-European Network for Innovative Diagnosis & Treatment of Chronic Neutropenias (EuNet-INNOCHRON) (2019-2024) and she is leading the COST CA24124-Network for the Advancement of Neutropenia Research & Patient Support (Neutro-NARPS) (2025-2029).
She co-chairs the EHA SWG on Granulocyte & Constitutional Marrow Failure Syndromes and contributes to the Severe Chronic Neutropenia International Registry promoting the knowledge in rare conditions. With over 220 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 52) and sustained participation in European research and governance structures, she brings strong expertise in translational haematology and network-based research.
