Dr. George K Papadimas M.D., Ph.D. is a Senior Consultant Neurologist at the 1st Department of Neurology of the University of Athens at Eginition Hospital, and he is the Head of the Laboratory and the Outpatient Clinic for Muscle Diseases.

He is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Patras and he obtained his PhD from the Department of Experimental Pharmacology at the University of Athens.

He was trained in Neurology at the 1st Department of Neurology at Eginition Hospital and he completed a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases (Friedrich-Baur-Institute, LMU, Munich, Germany), after a scholarship obtained from the Hellenic Neurological Society (1st price).

His research interest is focused on the pathogenesis of muscle diseases and on the implementation of new therapies for patients with neuromuscular disorders.

Dr. Papadimas is a member of the World Muscle Society and of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federation of European Myotonic Dystrophy Associations (Euro-DyMA). He is also actively involved in the organization of centers of excellence for rare diseases in Greece. He is a member of the Greek National Committee for Rare Diseases and a board member of the Euro-NMD network.

He has been involved as principal investigator in many clinical trials and he also collaborates in a number of international research projects on neuromuscular diseases.

He is the co-author of over 89 scientific papers in international peer reviewed journals.
