Alexis ARZIMANOGLOU
Professor Alexis Arzimanoglou, Child Neurologist, is the elected Coordinator of the European Reference Network for Rare and Complex Epilepsies, ERN EpiCARE and Director of the Epilepsy Clinical and Research Programs at the Barcelona Children's Hospital San Juan de Dios, Universitat de Barcelona, Spain. Born and studied medicine in Greece, he then trained and worked in the UK and in France (Head of the Paediatric Epilepsy and Neurophysiology Dpt., University Hospitals of Lyon; 2008-2023). He is also co-Director of the European Consortium for Epilepsy Trials, ECET.
He has authored/co-authored seven books in the fields of Child Neurology and of the epilepsies and, over 200 peer reviewed scientific publications. For his global contribution to knowledge generation and epilepsy care he received the International League Against Epilepsy-Epilepsy Ambassador award (2007); the Aicardi award for excellence in Paediatric Neurology from the European Paediatric Neurology Society ( 2017) and the ILAE-Europe Education award (2022).
