Valentina BOTTARELLI
Valentina Bottarelli joined EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe in 2007. As Public Affairs Director, Head of European Advocacy, Valentina provides policy analysis and strategic advice on EU policies as well as funding opportunities from EU public institutions.
Leading EURORDIS’ public affairs and advocacy team, she is responsible for defining strategy and advocacy priorities for the organisation, designs and implements campaigns that supports public policy addressing the needs of people living with rare diseases at the European and national level. She has also overseen activities aimed at fostering the development of National Plans on Rare Diseases in EU countries within the framework of the EUROPLAN project and EU-funded Joint Actions on Rare Diseases.
Valentina has extensive experience in EU policies and programmes as well as managing European-funded projects, having previously worked for a leading public affairs and communication consultancy in Brussels, where she specialised in government affairs in the fields of health and environment. She has also worked at the European Commission, Directorate External Affairs.
Valentina holds a Master of Arts in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges.
An Italian national, she is fluent Italian, her mother tongue, French, English and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
