Antonis KATTAMIS
Antonis Kattamis is Professor of Pediatrics - Pediatric Hematology–Oncology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He received his MD degree (cum laude) from NKUA. He completed his training in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, USA and in Pediatric Hematology–Oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, USA.
Prof Kattamis is the Head of the Division of Hematology-Oncology of the First Department of Pediatrics, NKUA, at the "Aghia Sofia" Children's Hospital, Athens, Greece. The Thalassemia and Oncology Units of the Division have been recognised as National Centers of Excellence for Rare Blood Diseases, Pediatric Cancer and Cancer Predisposition Syndromes and became full members of the respective European Reference Networks EuroBloodNet, PaedCan and GENTURIS since 1/1/2022.
He has been serving in many consulting bodies of the Ministry of Health, like the National Registries for Rare Diseases and for Pediatric Cancers (Chair) and the Committee for Rare Diseases and in many scientific organizations, like the Hellenic Society for Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (President, 2019-2022) and the European Hematology Association.
He has published >170 articles, including NEJM, Lancet and Blood, and participated in numerous clinical trials and collaborative research programs, funded by the European Union, NKUA and Pharmaceutical companies.
